These levels are very exciting, and are where the children really begin to dance. They begin understanding the concepts of technique and learn more complicated combinations. They are taught performing skills and begin to learn some advanced steps. Progress at this level is great. It is where we begin to divide children by ability and experience instead of ages. They are offered tap, ballet, jazz and AcroDance. These classes perform a dance in the recital for each of the types of dance they study, except Acro.

Level 2

Adult Classes

Level 1

Ages 9+: (30 to 45-min classes)

These classes begin to move into much more complicated combinations, as well as advanced steps. Flexibility, strength, endurance and dedication begin to factor into these developmental years. Level 3-6 Class Descriptions

Ballet

These classes study alignment, rotation, and the technique aspect of ballet. These classes will focus on proper alignment, positions of the arms, direction of the body, flexibility, strength, advanced technique and increased movement vocabulary. Ballet is a main building block of dance, and these classes bridge the gap between the intermediate and advanced dancer. All ballet classes perform in the recital.

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.  Tap originated in the US through the fusion of several ethnic percussive dances, primarily West African, Scottish, Irish, and English dances.

Jazz

These classes present a rounded class of stretching and increasing flexibility and strength. Turns, leaps and complex combinations are taught at these levels. All classes perform in our recital.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a dance style that blends ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical is generally smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz. A lyrical dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy, and anger. All lyrical students must also be enrolled in ballet and jazz. All classes perform in our recital.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. All contemporary students must also be enrolled in ballet and jazz. All classes perform in our recital.

Acrobatic Arts

This is an intermediate/advanced floor work tumbling class which improves flexibility, strength, balance and coordination, while building on basic acrobatic skills. Students are in a class, but given individual attention and allowed to progress on tricks individually.
